Our Favourite Courses In Aberdeenshire

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club was founded in 1780 and officially became Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. Balgownie is one of the finest links courses in Scotland. The front nine ranks up there with the very best courses in world. Designed for the more competent golfer this links course weaves between sculpted dunes and undulating fairways. It is imperative you have the skill to battle against the elements, as the coastal terrain means the weather can quickly switch from calmness to ferocious wind and rain. Like many of the best links courses, mankind has only played a small role and this classic links has mainly been created by the natural landscapes and elements. Royal Aberdeen is one of the most challenging links courses in Scotland and hosted the Scottish Open in 2014.

Murcar holds all the elements of a traditional Scottish links course with undulating fairways, sporadic heather and sand dunes. The course has held many prestigious events including The Paul Lawrie Match Play and the R&A 123rd Amateur Championship Qualifying. With brilliant views over the North Sea we highly recommend this hidden gem.

Cruden Bay is both peculiar and a masterpiece at the same time.  The course has been sculpted into the natural landscape with towering dunes, rippling and humped fairways, elevated tees and sunken greens. The course is certainly unconventional with back to back par threes, enticing short par 4’s and breath taking views over wind swept beaches . Designed by Old Tom Morris and Archie Simpson Cruden Bay is often considered to be in the world’s top 100 courses.

Trump International Golf Links
embodies luxury links golf and as with any project Mr Trump is involved in, only the very highest of standards will make the grade. Set in “ Scotland’s Great  Dunes” Trump International is a modern links course combined with  old school characteristics. The course was designed by respected architect Martin Hawtree and he utilised the topography of the area extremely well, building the course around complex dune systems. We highly recommend playing this modern but beautifully laid-out links course.
